OUR COOKING

... is a journey around the Mediterranean tastes and memories.

We surprise you every morning at breakfast with different dishes coming from the past: lovingly selected and prepared products are offered in ways suitable to mansions in Alexandria, Corfu or Istanbul.

Coming back from your day-time outings, after being cooled off by a fresh, mint-flavoured lemonade, you are introduced to the art of lazily savouring a Greek coffee.

Evenings call for glasses of our favourite wines, or ouzo and raki brought with bites of mezé.

At times when cooking, sharing food and drinking with friends were parts of a meaningful ritual, small pre-dinner offerings were presented by proud houseladies.

Collectively known as "mezé" (a word borrowed from Persia) the plethora of tiny dishes would be slowly enjoyed with strong alcoholic drinks and long conversations.

Memories were retrieved, friendships strengthened, jokes told and marriages arranged: all over a glass of ouzo and a plate of pickled octopus.

She will happily give you tips passed down to her by her father and grandfather.

Master confectioners from Asia Minor, expatriated by History's quirks more than once, they exchanged trade sectrets with people in three continents.
