We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay.

If you are considering booking with this place, do it! My husband and I stayed at Kokkini Porta Rossa in October to celebrate our honeymoon. We were there for nine nights in total.
Everything about Kokkini Porta Rossa is just perfect - the location, the rooms, the food, and especially the wonderful owners and hosts, Angela and Nikos.
We arrived on a Sunday night and Nikos had very kindly stayed up to welcome us. We went out into the beautiful courtyard and had a drink while Nikos gave us a small amount of information about the hotel. It was nice to meet someone who understands that you don't want all the information right away - rather, each day, Nikos or Angela would come and chat to us about what we'd like to do that day or for the coming days, and help us to arrange it. We were given excellent restaurant recommendations, directions to the best and also less-visited attractions and beaches, and interesting tidbits about the local area. Never have I stayed anywhere where the hosts are so helpful and obliging! Plus they are so friendly, they make you feel like family.
We stayed in the room named 'Deniz' (every room is named after someone who used to live in the hotel when it was a house) and it was great. Huge bed, jacuzzi bath, comfy chair, tablet computer provided, and especially the little 'balcony' room above the street, with view of the sea in the distance. All the little things were thought of - we had fresh fruit and flowers when we arrived and tasty drinks and snacks in the minibar.
The rest of the hotel is just as well thought-out. We loved the courtyard, with its unique furniture and tranquil atmosphere. I could have spent all week in the comfy lounge chairs! There are little touches everywhere, like the solitaire game that Nikos made himself, and the books about local history and geography.
One thing that we really, really loved was the breakfasts. Oh my goodness, the breakfasts! Every day we had home-made treats brought out by our hosts, including little cakes, tarts and pancakes. We also had the option of having Greek yoghurt with fresh seasonal fruits, eggs one of four different ways, fresh coffee, various freshly-pressed juices, and so many different jams! Compliments to Ornella and Angela on the food - we've been trying to recreate it at home but nothing beats what we ate at Kokkini Porta Rossa!
The location of the hotel is also perfect. Just inside the Old Town, it's easy to get to the main square and palace but also close to other amenities. We really enjoyed walking through the market on the Thursday morning and photographing all the fresh fruits and vegetables, and even saw Angela out buying the following morning's breakfast!
There is no question that we will return to Kokkini Porta Rossa in the future. In the meantime, we recommend that you try it too!
Do book directly with the hotel if you do, as they provide the best rates and may even throw in some very nice extras.
